MARION - The Arts Palace is proud to offer fall classes and workshops designed to awaken creativity and imagination in students of all ages. Registration deadlines are quickly approaching for the following classes.

The festival's current incarnation came to life five years ago, though there were similar chicken festivals in Forest dating to the 1950s.
'The Wing Dang Doodle basically replaces the old Broiler Festival that we used to have in Forest for years and years,' explains Gay Barnes, the entertainment chairman. '(It started) about the same time that the legislature came up with the Mississippi Blues Commission and decided to market the blues as a tourism tool.'
In keeping with that theme this year, blues singer and guitarist T-Model Ford, a Forest native, will perform, partly as a celebration of his immortalization on a blues trail marker in town.
Other performers will include the Episcopalian priests/bluesmen of Rubrixx and the perennial favorite Eden Brent.
'With the advent of the cooking shows and the Food Network and all that, we thought it'd be neat to have a contest,' Barnes tells.
In this contest, teams are provided with 80 pounds of chicken wings (courtesy of Tyson Foods) and set loose to cook them in the most creative and delicious way possible
